G1. Bracing

Strongback and outrigger bracing before and after the pour.

Bracing is important to form a plumb, straight wall. Formtech bracing provides the support and stabilization the structure requires during the pour, and includes a strongback and adjustable outrigger with clevis pins for fastening.

Braces should be placed 6 to 7 feet apart starting two feet from a corner. Place the strongback to the wall and align it with the embedded strapping. Fasten the strongback with 1-1/2 inch screws, starting at the top and anchor base. Once the strongback is fastened, determine the position of the outrigger and fasten it with clevis pins. Adjust the bracing by turning the outrigger before and after the pour.

Horizontal alignment, important for straight walls, is achieved with metal studs or other material secured to the bracing.
